Owls are great Birds which are mostly seen at night. Owls only can see in night. There are lots of facts and myth about Owls from different cultures and countries.

Owls are mysterious birds, with more than 200+ species which are broken down into two categories (Typical Owls and Barn Owls) living on every continent except Antarctica. Antarctica is the only continent where owls are exist. Owls have super-tuned sense power that help them to hunt. Owls are pretty cute Bird.

  • Typical Owls having the round clock face created by the pattern of feathers are also called True Owls. Typical owls have massive feather on their body that keeps them warm in the cold nights. Typical Owls have very common and can found everywhere. The typical Owls have more than 225+ categories found till date all over the globe.

  • On the other hand, “Barn Owls“ have a face feathers with heart-shaped design. Barn owls have more feather on their face. Their face is almost looks like heart-shape. The Barn owls  very rare and mostly found in Iceland Barn Owl have only 21 species found till date on the entire earth.

Uniqueness of eyes of owls

1. The Eyeballs of Owls are not round in shape.

Owls don't have a round eyes like humans. They have a tabular shaped eyes.

Due to the tabular shaped eyes owls can't move their eye, however they move their head almost 360 degrees, and most upside-down (without moving the rest of their body) to see in all different directions!

2. Their eyes aren’t useless, however! The unique shape of their eyes give these birds better depth perception and allows them to see prey from much greater distances!

3.The depth of their eyes has another interesting factIt sounds interesting that if you look in an owls ears, you can see the bottom of their tubular eye!. That's the Uniqueness of the owls

4. Owls eye color indicates their dinner time! Not only do owls have tubular eyes, but their eye color also gives provides the information about their dietary habits! The color of eyes of owl describes whether that owl prefers to hunt at night or during the day.

Here’s what the colors mean:

  • Black or Dark brown for strictly nocturnal owls.
  • Orange/red for owls that hunt in twilight hours.
  • Yellow for owls who hunt during the day.

Owls flying Silently, They doesn't produce any type noise while flying.


Unlike most of the birds, owls did not make any noise when they fly. They have unique feathers that cuts the turbulence into smaller currents, which almost reduces the sound. Soft velvety down further muffles noise.
During the test, In most silents room with various noise detector mics the detector doesn't record any type of noise while owl was flew.

Groups of owls are called Parliament

Owls are generally solitary creatures, but when they group together, it’s called a “Parliament.”

How did they get this name?

Well, owls have long been considered wise, especially when a bunch of them are together. Even in Greek mythology, owls were the symbol for Athena, who was the Goddess of Wisdom.

Owls Don't have symmetrical ears.

Asymmetrical means that owls ears are not located at the same spot on each side of their head!
Not only are they located in different positions, but the ears themselves can be two different sizes! And don’t worry, hawks and other birds don’t make fun of owls for their funny ears!

The different sizes and different positions give owls the ability to pinpoint where prey is located, even if they don’t see it!
When a mouse or other animal produces a noise, due to their asymmetrical ears the owl receives that sound at two different times . Their brains of owl can calculate the exact location of the prey  animal to him dinner!

Farmers love owls!
Barn Owls can eat up to 1000 mice per year and keep pests and vermin under control!
Getting rid of all these rodents saves lots of damage to stored grain or nibbled crops.
Using Barn Owls as natural pest control is gaining traction among farmers as a way to use less poison and other invasive methods of pest management.
